This was gathered as follows: from the Burlington railroad 14,270 pounds, from the community scrap pile 1,500 pounds, from the American Legion cannon which has been stationed at the cemetery 2,000 pounds, from the city light plant 2,000 pounds and from an old engine boiler and other pieces dug up in a pasture south of town by Clyde McElmoil, Dwight Stebbins and others 4,000 pounds.
