Necessary and needed were the ORGANIZATIONS of Farnam

BAPTIST WOMENS AUXILIARY

Many years ago the Baptist Ladies Aid was organized, but the group disbanded a few’ years later.

Later the ladies and their friends met with Mrs. Greenlee, on the afternoon, Jan. 31, 1905 for the purpose of reorganizing a circle for more efficient work. The officers elected were as follow’s: President, Laura Moore; Vice President, Mrs. Benedict; Secretary, Jessie Clark; and Treasurer, Mrs. Greenlee.

The day selected for their meetings was Thursday, and the women decided upon "Kensete" as the name for the society. The work committee were Mrs. Miller, Mrs. Fitch and Mrs. Reed.

The members paid 10 cents per quarter for dues and fined each member five cents when absent from the Society meeting.

List of members were: Miss Frank, Mrs. Miller, Miss Laura Moore, Mrs. Reed, Mrs. Fitch, Mrs. Patterson, Mrs. Griffis, Mrs. Greenlee, Mrs. Divoll, Mrs. Stilley, Mrs. Benedict and Jessie Clark.

Rev. Clark was pastor at that time and on the third meeting of the society which met at the parsonage, Rev. Clark came home that day from the East with Miss Lovella Neff, to be his bride. The ladies laid aside their work while Rev. Craig performed the ceremony which made them one.

The ladies did all kinds of sewing and quilting, also tying comforters and sewing carpet rags. They made aprons to sell at the large sum of 30 cents and when reading over the notes of one of the meetings which met at Mrs. Cloyd’s, nine ladies sewed all afternoon for 45 cents.

In three years they doubled their membership.

The society helped the local church in missionary work and of late years has taken up the White Cross work, financially assisting the Church.

It was voted a few years ago to change the name from the Ladies Aid to the Baptist Womens Auxiliary, so the Society now goes by the latter adopted title.

We met every two weeks and had a missionary study once a month and a miscellaneous program once a month. A very busy sewing schedule at other meetings.

The officers at the time this was written were: Mrs. C. E. Pollard, President; Mrs. Dan McNickle, Vice-President; Mrs. F. W. Ainlay, Secretary; Mrs. F. G. Gardner, Treasurer; Mrs. F. G. Gardner, Mrs. W. W. Crabtree, Mrs. A. E. Oman were the Program Committee; Mrs. F. G. Gardner and Mrs. C. E. Jackson were on the Flower Committee.
