Necessary and needed were the ORGANIZATIONS of Farnam
I.O.O.F. NO. 235, FARNAM
The lodge was instituted, July 21, 1899. There were 23 charter members. They were: J. F. Hazen, F.. A. Deeds, M. C. Divoll, John T. Martin, A. J. Ealy, W. P. Gans, John Ainlay, H. Feldcher, A. S. Boyle, C. A. Smith, L. F. Lee, P. O’Brien, W. L. Hicks, W. G. Parker, J. M. Liggitt, H. C. McGavack, C. B. Hampson, W. L. Chittock, W. J. Adkisson, Chas Gens, Geo. Boyle, H. C. Kitchen and C. Bradshaw.
The first Noble Grand was W. P. Gans, Vice Grand M. C. Divoll, Sec. W. G. Parker and Treas. John Ainlay.
The first meetings were held in the A.O.U.W. Hall and they continued to meet there until 1905 when they obtained a 99 year lease on the old lodge hall. They used this until 1975 when they bought the old M.E. church, where they now reside.
During these 81 years, some 547 members have been initiated. In the thirties, during the Great Depression, interest dropped and for a time seemed about to go under, then it awakened again in the forties and has prospered until the present time.
The present Noble Grand is Jack Martin, the Vice Grand is Richard McMichael, the Sec. is Lynn Messersmith and the Treas. is Fred Beck.
