MR. and MRS. CROSSGROVE HELD GOLDEN WEDDING

Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Crossgrove were married in New York state on December 14, 1881, and on Dec. 14, 1931, they were privileged to celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary.
The wedding anniversary was an occasion which Mr. and Mrs. Crossgrove had looked forward to for sometime, as Mr. Crossgrove was confined to his home for several years following a stroke of paralysis. He spent much time making plans for the event. Seventy-two relatives and friends were entertained in the Methodist Church basement to an old fashioned supper, and an entertainment long to be remembered by those present.
Mr. Crossgrove died Febr., 1932, just two months after their 50th anniversary. One son, Maurice preceded him in death. He was killed when thrown from a horse as a small boy. The members of the family living are: Merle, Nora (Mrs. Albert LaBounty); Mary (Mrs. Victor Oman, Gothenburg); Jennie (Mrs. Emry Messersmith, Arnold); and Lynn. There are eight grandchildren.
Nora Crossgrove LaBounty was the first child born in this vicinity among the early settlers.
In spite of all the handicaps and hardships encountered in a new country and a liberal amount of bad luck Mr. and Mrs. Crossgrove persisted in their efforts to establish a home.
Slowly but surely they increased their possessions until by energy, hard work and excellent management they succeeded in building up the best herd of Shorthorn cattle in this section of the country. A herd that was known all over this and neighboring states. He accomplished a great deal of good to the cattle interests of the state.
Mrs. Crossgrove enjoys a comfortable and pretty home in the west part of town.
