H. W. Todd
SCOTTSBLUFF (T-HNS) — H. W. “Dean” Todd, 63, father of Laurie Hickox of Alliance, died Monday, Dec. 28, 1987, at his home, 2108 Seventh Avenue.
He was born June 14, 1924, at Moorefield to Merton and Esther Todd. The family moved to Curtis, where he grew up and attended school.
He served in the armed forces during World War II in the South Pacific. Following the war, he married Shirley Jorgensen at Curtis on Oct. 6, 1946. They moved to Mitchell, where he worked as a railroad telegrapher for CB&Q, later Burlington Northern Railroad. He retired in 1981 as an agent in Scottsbluff.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and services were held there at 9 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Wendell Davis officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Besides his daughter and son-in-law, Laurie and Ken Hickox, in Alliance, he is survived by his wife; mother, Esther Todd, of Curtis; son Terry and daughter-in-law, Susan, of Treynor, Iowa; and three grandsons.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, his father and two brothers.
Friends may call at Jolliffe Funeral Home Thursday from 2 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.
A memorial has been established for the church’s choirs.
