Obituary Collection
J. O. Wilmeth

Monday morning the sad news was received in town that Oscar Wilmeth had died very suddenly at his home a few miles northeast of town. He was in apparent good health until death struck him, caused by heart failure. Mr. Wilmeth was one of the old time, well and favorably known prosperous farmers of this part of the state. The funeral was conducted from the home, Wednesday afternoon by Rev. Zinnicker of Curtis, and the body laid to rest in the Moorefield cemetery. The bereaved relatives and most especially the aged mother, have our most tender sympathies. It is a very sudden and severe blow on the widow, who is now left alone in the home and upon the feeble mother who realizes that her son has been called away from her earthly companionship so quickly, and without warning. How true is the prophecy of the end that we know not the day nor the hour. The following biographical sketch was handed to us.

Oscar Wilmeth was born February 5, 1861, at Salem, Iowa, living with his parents there until 1884 when they came to Arapahoe, Nebr. The following year the parents and family came and all made their home in Frontier county. November 6th, 1891, he was united in marriage with Elizabth Griffith, continuing their Frontier county residence until 1892, when they moved to their present home in Lincoln county. Ossie Wilmeth died November 11th, 1912, aged 51 years, 9 months and 7 days leaving a wife, an aged mother, five brothers and three sisters to mourn his loss, all but one of whom were present.
