Funeral services were held in the Curtis Methodist church on Monday, Aug. 19, for Mrs. Verna Sweet, who passed away at her home in Omaha after an illness of eight years, on Aug. 17. Rev. L. A. Moore officiated. Interment was in Moorefield.

Verna McLaughlin Sweet was born in Moorefield, Nebr., Dec. 21, 1920 and departed this life on Aug. 17, 1946 at the age of 25 days, 7 months and 26 days.

She grew to womanhood in Moorefield. In 1940 she moved to North Platte, where she lived a short time before going to Omaha, where she remained until her death.

On Aug. 26, 1940 she was united in marriage to Myrvle Sweet at North Platte. To this union were born two children, James Lavern and Shernyl Lynn.

She attended the Methodist church in North Platte and Omaha. Often during her last sickness she was visited by her pastor and he prayed often with her.

She leaves to mourn her passing besides her devoted husband and two children, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert McLaughlin of Moorefield; three sisters Mrs. Ed Hoppe of Moorefield, Mrs. Woodrow Hosick of Curtis and Miss Roberta McLaughlin of Omaha; and a host of relatives and friends.

Servant of God, well done,
Rest from thy loved employ;
The battle fought, the victory won,
Enter thy master’s joy.

The pains of death are past,
Labour and sorrow cease,
And life’s warfare closed at last,
Thy soul is found in peace.
