G. W. Todd, Moorefield Pioneer Dies, Saturday
Granville Webster Todd was born in Montgomery county, Ohio December 6, 1858 and died at his home near Moorefield October 7, 1939 at the age of 80 years, 10 months and one day.
When he was 14 years of age he went to Indiana where he stayed until 1878 when he came to Nelson, Nebr. He then went west through Colorado, Wyoming, and Utah making ties for the railroad company.
He was married to Estella Elder October 26, 1884 at Nelson, Nebr., where they lived until 1892 when they moved to Frontier county where he has since resided.
He leaves to mourn his passing five children: Delbert, North Platte, Mrs. Maud McLaughlin, Mrs. Vella Herndon, and Vern Todd, Moorefield; and Merton, Curtis; three brothers; 12 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren, and a host of friends.
His wife and one daughter (Minnie) preceded him in death.
On March 31, 1911 he was baptized into the church of God, to which he remained a faithful member to the end. He was a kind and loving father and a good neighbor.
Funeral services were held in Moorefield Tuesday, with burial in the Moorefield cemetery.
