Rites Held For
Mrs. C. Hiddleson

Mrs. Cora Hiddleson, 88, a pioneer Nebraskan, died Friday night at the home of a son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest G. Roseberry, 2312 West Sixth, Grand Island, with whom she had made her home.

She had suffered a minor illness but death was unexpected.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock in the First Christian Church, Grand Island by the Rev. Volney D. Lofgreen. Burial was in Grand Island Cemetery.

Mrs. R. L. Fickes sang “Evening Prayer,” and “Beyond the Sunset.” She was accompanied by Mrs. Irvin McCune, who also played the prelude and recessional.

Pallbearers were Ludwig A. Zlomke, John Sickler, Louis A. Holmes, Dean C. Veeder, Dean J. Brazelton and Rymon E. Smith.

Cora Ella Miller was born April 10, 1869, near Rippey in Green county, Ia., to Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Miller. She attended rual school and high school there.

She and Milton P. Hiddleson were married Dec. 16, 1886, and, four months later they came to Nebraska where Mr. Hiddleson had a homestead in Frontier county, 14 miles south of Eustis. They resided there for seven years, then returned to Iowa and lived there until 1909 when they came back to Nebraska and located on a farm five miles east of Cairo.

They moved to Grand Island in January 1920 and Mrs. Hiddleson had lived there since that time. During her lifetime she had used almost all means of travel, and had taken her first airplane ride at the age of 80.

She became a member of the First Christian Church while a young girl in Iowa, and had transferred her membership to the First Christian Church in Grand Island.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Ernest G. Roseberry, Grand Island, Mrs. Harry Stange, Cairo, and Mrs. Rudy Goettsche, Omaha; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Winchell, Fort Collins, Colo.; a brother, John H. Miller, Farnam; nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Her husband died in 1947. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Wayne, who died in July of 1952; an infant son, Loren; a brother and a sister.
