Mrs. Mary Johnson, mother of Bert Johnson, living south of Moorefield, died in a North Platte hospital one day last week. Burial was made in the Stockville cemetery last Thursday. Mrs. Johnson was one of the oldest old settlers in the county coming here when Frontier county was nothing more than a prairie, and buffalo and Indians were the most plentiful things to be seen. She has lived to see this country become a fine stock raising and farming country, and improved beyond the highest expectations of the earliest settlers. We are very sad to lose so many of our old timers. Slowly they are answering the last call but the work they have accomplished in the building up of this country will live forever. Let us pay them just tribute.
