Obituary Collection
Christian Lapp

Our Grandpa Christian Lapp passed to the great beyond Friday evening, Nov. 6. This ended a career of eighty one years, two months and seventeen days duration. Grandpa leaves behind to mourn his loss a wife, four sons, two daughters, and thirty-six grandchildren. He first beheld the light of day in Canada, but when a mere boy his parents moved to Freeport, Illinois. When he reached the age of young manhood he heeded the advice of Horace Greely, “Go west young man and grow up with the country,” by casting his lot with Shelby Co., Missouri. As his children took their places in the world they pushed on further west and took land in Frontier county, Nebraska, this induced him to come also, and here he spent his remaining days. The Church of the Brethren of which grandpa was a faithful and consistent member called him to the ministry of the Gospel and ordained him into the office of Bishop. He was of a most benevolent nature, always responding to the needs of the less fortunate and in him the oppressed found a sympathizing heart.—Moorefield Cor. to Curtis Reporter.
