Obituary Collection
William Canning Dead*

The remains of James Canning, who died in Esbon, Kans., December 22, were brought to this city Thursday afternoon.

Short funeral services were held at Cook & Scott’s undertaking establishment yesterday at 10:30 a.m., the remains being interred in Evergreen Home cemetery.

Deceased was 78 years of age and formerly resided on a farm a few miles east of Beatrice. He left Gage county about seven years ago and located in Kansas. He was the father of Miss Nannie Canning, stenographer in Attorney General Pront’s office, who, with other members of the bereaved family, attended the funeral services.

Mr. Canning’s death was due to ailments incident to old age.

A Correction


It was William, and not James Canning who died at Esbon, Kan., on December 22. He was 78 years old, and died at the home of his son, James Canning. The children left to mourn him are: Mrs. Lizzie Sierer of Minden, Neb., Mrs. Mary Moore, Little York, Ill., Alexander Canning, Lemley, Neb., James Canning, Esbon, Kan., William N. Canning, North Platte, Neb., and Miss Nannie Canning of Lincoln.

Mr. Canning formerly resided in Gage county.
