Mary Ellen Hobbs was born at Columbus, Illinois on Feb. 4, 1863 and departed this life Dec. 21, 1942 at the home of her son, Elwood, at Farnam, Nebr.

In early childhood she came to Missouri with her parents then later to Kansas.

She was united in marriage to Thomas A. Brown at Chelsea, Kan., on Sept. 27, 1885.

They made their home on a homestead in Lane Co. Kansas. Soon after joining the Church of the Brethren.

To this union five children were born, Viola passing away in early childhood and Tishie in 1921.

She had resided in Nebraska since 1894.

She leaves to mourn her passing her three children, Ora Roberts of Arapahoe, Colo.; Elwood of Farnam and Ernest of Brady. Also eighteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Farnam, Tuesday, Dec. 23, at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. E. H. Tipton. Interment was at Eustis, Nebr.
