Raymond Lester Klein

Raymond Lester Klein, 83, of Trenton, formerly of Bartley, died Aug. 28, 2017, at Great Plains Health in North Platte.

He was born on Feb. 27, 1934, in Farnam, the son of Louis and Nona (Hayworth) Klein.

Raymond married Arlene Toberer on Aug. 25, 1951. To this union five children were born, Gary, Rod, Brent, Carla and Jeff.

He farmed and ranched in the Farnam area and sold seed for NC+ seed company for many years. In the early 1990s, he moved to Bartley. There, he went to work at the UAP fertilizer plant, where he sprayed for clients all over the area.

Raymond enjoyed hunting and trapshooting, going snowmobiling, heading to the mountains and playing cards. He loved his horses and cattle.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ruth Klein; brothers, Russel and Ross Klein; grandson, Tony Klein; and great-granddaughter, Aubrey Ann Klein.

Surviving him are his sons, Gary (Dianne) Klein and Rod (Marla) Klein, both of Farnam, Brent (Bev) Klein of McCook and Jeff (Dee) Klein of Maywood; daughter, Carla (Tony) Boots of North Platte; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; aunt, Darlene Klooz; and many friends and extended family.

Memorials are suggested to the Farnam Fire Department or El Dorado Manor Nursing Home in Trenton. Online condolences may be shared at blasestrauser.com.

Services will be 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 31, at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel with Greg Boller officiating. Burial will follow at the Farnam Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m., with the family present form 5-7 p.m., today, Aug. 30, at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, which is in charge of arrangements.
