J. R. McLaughlin of Curtis, father of Mrs. Ed Hoppe, passed away Thursday morning at a Gothenburg hospital following surgery a few days previous.

Mr. McLaughlin was a farmer southwest of Farnam in the Moorefield route prior to retiring to Curtis.

Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church at Curtis on Saturday.
