Obituary Collection
Caroline Christine Rieker

Caroline Christine Rieker was born January 1, 1861, at Neckarwestheim, Southern Germany. In Holy Baptism she was born again of water and of the Holy Spirit and made a child of God and heir of His Heavenly Kingdom. In 1875 she confessed her faith in Christ and was confirmed in the Lutheran church of which she was a lifelong and faithful member. April 5, 1883, she was married to Christian Rieker. To this union were born 11 children. One son, Christ, Jr., preceded the mother in an early death.

With her family the deceased emigrated to America 24 years ago. They made their home in this part of the state.

On the morning of December 2 when Mrs. Rieker was about to arise for the day’s work she suffered a stroke of apoplexy which left her partly paralyzed. At the noon hour of December 9 she died, being 58 years, 11 months and eight days old. She is survived by her husband, 10 children and 22 grandchildren.

Services were held last Saturday from the home and Lutheran church, Rev. Mr. J. Hiltner preaching the sermon from the text: John 5:24. Burial was made in the Lutheran cemetery.
