Archie Albert Coon
Funeral services for Archie Albert Coon, 75 of Brady, were held at the McVay Memorial Chapel Saturday, March 1, with the Rev. Richard Dimond officiating. He died February 27 at the Gothenburg Memorial Hospital.
Providing the music for the services were Jean Pramberg, Dean Kittle, and Emily Pramberg, organist. Casket bearers were Bill Diehl, JackClouse, Billy Thanel, Pat Brittenham, George Brown, and Charles Wright. Burial was in Plainview Cemetery.
Coon was born June 22, 1910 near Farnam to Fred and Ruth (Giddings) Coon. He married Lois Karr June 6, 1931 at Ogallala.
Coon came to Brady with his parents at an early age and resided there most of his life. He went to work for the Union Pacific Railroad in 1926 and retired as a section foreman in 1963. In 1953 he worked in Labrador for the Morrison-Knudsen Company building a railroad for the Quebec, North Share Iron Ore Company.
He was a member of the Brady Methodist Church, the Gothenburg Masonic Lodge #249, the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way, the Maxwell Gun club, an honorary member of the Brady Volunteer Fire Department and a charter member of the Maxwell Fire Department which he helped organize.
