Glen G. Stombaugh
Glen G. Stombaugh, age 74, lifelong Eustis resident, died Jan. 8, 2014 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Eustis. Burial will be at the Westview Cemetery in Eustis.
He was born Jan. 28, 1939 at Buhl, Idaho to Clifford and Helen (Heater) Stombaugh. He attended school in Eustis until the eighth grade and then returned to work on the farm. Glen was united in marriage to Wilma Hazen on Sept. 11, 1960 at Farnam United Methodist Church. They farmed south of Farnam and then moved to Eustis in 1969. Glen first worked at Co-op Elevators and KW Motors. He and Wilma owned and operated Glen's Garage from 1971 until 1979, then worked at KN Energy until his retirement in 2001. Following Wilma's death on Feb. 23, 2001, Glen married Shirley Horn on Aug. 20, 2005 at the Evangelical Free Church in Lexington. They made their home in Eustis. Glen had been a long term member of the Eustis Volunteer Fire Dept. and Rescue Squad. He and Shirley attended Parkview Baptist Church in Lexington. Although retired, he continued to work daily for fertilizer companies and area farmers.
He is lovingly survived by his wife Shirley of Eustis; his children, Keith (Tami) Stombaugh of Cozad, Nancy (Ray) Westphal of Farnam, Cheri (Jeff) Bromander of Eustis; grandchildren, Ann (DJ), Ranae (Kevin), Randy, Tristan, Hannah and Dannyl; great-grandchildren, Kylee, Donald, Jessa, Mickala, Ryann, Whitney and Wyatt; 3 brothers, Clyde (Laveda) Stombaugh of Cozad, Earl (Judy) Stombaugh of Buffalo Gap, S. D., Jay (Sharon) Stombaugh of Lexington; sisters June Easterday of Eustis and Opal Easterday of Buhl, Idaho; sister-in-law Irene Hilker of Axtell. Shirley's children and grandchildren who loved Glen, Connie (Ron) Lousberg of Greeley, Colo., Rhonda (Roger) Shaner of Lexington, Tammy (Todd) Schultz of Brady and Angie (Neil) Jones of Kearney; Ethan, Evan, Anthony, Tara (Robert), Justin (Christyne), Alex and Roree.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Wilma; sisters, Lila Whaley and Verna Ercoli; and brother-in-law Bill Hilker.
Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad is in charge of arrangements.
