Everne G. Darnall

Everne G. Darnall, 91, of Grand Island died Wednesday, July 26, 2000, at St. Francis Memorial Health Center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. The Rev. Delvin Roper will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m., with the family receiving from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Trinity United Methodist Church or the family.

Mr. Darnall was born on April 28, 1909, at Cordova to Fred and Clara (Herrold) Darnall. He grew up and was educated at Farnam and graduated from Farnam High School in 1927.

He married Bessie Klein on Sept. 16, 1931, at Norton, Kan. They lived in Farnam and Gothenburg, where he repaired wells and windmills. While in Gothenburg, he began working as an auto mechanic. They moved to Grand Island in 1942, and he worked at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant during World War II. He began working for Diers Motors in 1946 and retired in 1973 as an auto mechanic. After he retired, he continued to work as an auto mechanic on his own until he was 80 years old.

He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Phyllis Johnsrud of Norfolk and Juleen Olson of Omaha; one grandson; and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Oris and Wilber; and he was preceded in death by two brothers, Oris and Wilber; and a sister, Zelma Floweday.
