Russell W. Wilcox
Russell W. Wilcox, 75, of Farnam died April 28, 1997 at the Gothenburg Hospital.
He was born March 10, 1922, to Schuyler and Ina M. Stoner Wilcox in Farnam. He graduated from the Farnam High School in 1939.
On June 23, 1949, he married Eucillis Hathaway in North Platte.
Mr. Wilcox operated Wilcox Implement in Farnam from 1947 to 1977. He also worked at the Maywood Co-Op in Maywood from 1977 to 1981.
He was a 67-year member of the Farnam United Methodist Church and a 50-year member of the Farnam Lions Club. He was a member of the Farnam Fire Department and EMT for 22 years. He was also a member of the Farnam Senior Center board and American Legion and Farnam Economic Development Club.
Surviving him is his wife; two daughters, Sheila (Ron) Ecklund of Lincoln and Marla (Rod) Klein of Farnam; and six grand-children, Ryan, Courtney, Ashley, Amy, Michala and Kyle.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Bernice Schnitzer.
Memorials may be made to the Farnam Ambulance Fund.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Farnam with the Rev. Mark Schutt officiating. Burial will be at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell with military honors by Farnam American Legion Post 288.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Blase Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg, which is in charge of arrangements.
