Nadine E. Rieker

Nadine Rieker, 71, of Eustis died Sept. 16, 2001, at the Elwood Care Center.

She was born Aug. 15, 1930, at McCook to William and Frances Benjamin Whisler. She graduated from Eustis High School in 1947 and taught rural school near Eustis.

On May 16, 1948, she married Gilbert Rieker at Eustis. They farmed northwest of Eustis for 40 years. In 1988, they moved to Eustis. She worked with her husband on the family farm and later worked for Morris Press in Lexington and Kearney.

Mrs. Rieker was a member of the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She taught Sunday school, Bible school and she served on various committees. She sang special music at church and for weddings and funerals. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, a founding member of the U&I Club and was a 4-H leader for many years. She and her husband were founding members of the Eustis-Farnam Marriage Encounter group.

Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Kathleen (Dan) Becker of Peoria, Ill., Janet (Tom) Nyffeler of Stromsburg and Jacqueline (John) Burn of Sedan, Kan.; two sons, Edward of North Platte and Alan (Toni) of Eustis; three sisters, Patricia (Byron) Schutz of Elwood, Marcy (Harold) Koch of Eustis and Jean Klein of Gothenburg; 18 grandchildren, Scott, John and Benjamin Rieker, Kelli (Philip) Wegener, Jacqueline (Tom) Kolodziej, Jonathan Becker, Paul Nyffeler, Barbara (Jeff) McArthur, J.J., Jeremy and Jessica Pond, Shelley, Sarah and Evan Burn and Ashton, Jordan, Braden and Preston Rieker; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Thomas.

Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church or the Eustis Senior Center.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Eustis with the Rev. Fred Andersen officiating. Burial will be at 2:15 p.m. in Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell.

Berryman Funeral Home of Cozad is in charge.
