Evelyn R. Arnold
June 27, 1924 - April 28, 2007
NORTH PLATTE -- Evelyn Ruth Arnold died Saturday (April 28, 2007) at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte, at the age of 82.
She was born June 27, 1924, in Frontier County, the daughter of the late Harvey E. and Elizabeth (Rice) Klooz. She grew up in Frontier County and graduated from high school at Curtis in 1940.
On Oct. 6, 1944, she married Dorance Arnold at Oberlin. For 13 years she taught in the rural schools in Frontier County and for many years taught Sunday School at the Nazarene Church in Farnam and also helped her husband with farming in Frontier County.
She served as a foster parent to 19 children and six foreign exchange students from Sweden, Chili and Switzerland. She enjoyed gardening by planting seeds and growing potatoes and fruit trees, her music, and painting pictures.
She is survived by two sons, Harvey Arnold and wife, Jerri and Marvin Arnold, all of Cambridge; three grandchildren, Travis, Eric and Christopher Arnold; two brothers, Clark Klooz and wife, Darlene of Sargent and Marvin Klooz and wife, Ruthann of McCook; two sisters, Dorothey Hansen of McCook and Eva Reichelderfer of Bellevue; relatives; and friends.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Thursday at the Nazarene Church in Farnam, with the Rev. Blake Metousek officiating. Interment will be in the Orafino Cemetery at Orafino.
Memorials may be given in her name and friends may call at Herrmann Funeral Home in McCook from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Herrmann Funeral Home of McCook is in charge of arrangements.
