Rankin Y. Wear was born September 28, 1848 near Ramsey, Fayette county, Illinois and departed this life at his home in Farnam, Nebraska, on May 15, 1925, age 76 years, 7 months, and 17 days.

He was united in marriage to Serena F. Fair in Christian county, Illinois on December 27, 1871. To this union were born four girls, and six boys, namely: Mrs. Belle Roberts, John and Roy Wear, Farnam; Mrs. Clara Shirey, Havelock; Ira Wear, Ingham; Will Wear, Mariental, Kansas; Mrs. Mary Hazen, Farnam; Mrs. Ella Coon died in February 1920, and Everett Wear died in 1900.

All those living were present at the funeral, also 23 grandchildren and a nephew, Thomas Wear of Friend, and a niece, Mrs. Emma Maxwell of Crete, Nebraska.

The Wears came to Frontier county in an early day and have made their home on a farm about 15 miles south of Farnam until last August when they moved to Farnam on account of Mr. Wear's failing health.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 o'clock at the Congregational church conducted by Rev. J. E. Craig, pastor of the church. Interment was made in the Farnam cemetery.
