B. F. Stilley Dead.
Benjamin F. Stilley died at his home one-half mile west of Farnam, at about 10:30 o’clock Tuesday evening, of heart failure. His death was very sudden and, probably painless. He had been feeling badly for several days and had suffered from a severe attack last Friday, which he thought would prove fatal but from which he rallied and lived until Tuesday evening, when a second attack robbed him of life.
He was in town attending to his business until about 6 o’clock Tuesday evening when he went home, ate his supper, read his papers and then retired. Some time later, as Mrs. Stilley was preparing for bed, she was startled at not hearing his breathing, and upon investigation, he was found to be dead.
The body rested in a perfectly natural position, the bedding was not disarranged and the features were tranquil; all showing that death came instantaneous and painless.
Mr. Stilley located here with his family in [1890]* and has been one of Farnam’s most respected business men from that time to the day of his death.
The remains was laid to rest in the Farnam cemetery, Thursday, after a short funeral service at the home, conducted by Rev. Murlless, and was followed to its last resting place by the largest concourse of people ever in attendance at a funeral in this vicinity.
The Echo extends sympathy to the bereaved family.
