Osten Klein
Services were held in the Methodist Church at Farnam, September 11th for Osten Klein, who departed this life, September 9, 1946, at his home. Rev. Samuel Rich and Rev. Leslie A. Moore officiating.
Osten Klein, son of Ludwig and Katherine Klein, was born in Hamburg, Canada, March 8, 1864. He was one of fourteen children with ten brothers and three sisters.
The family moved to the United States when he was six years of age and located at Western, Nebraska. There he grew to manhood. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church and was faithful to the end. He was a farmer all his life.
In 1897, he came to Campbell, Nebraska and was united in marriage with Miss Etta Harms. To this union was born six chlldren, Anna Klein and Louis Klein of Farnam, Nebraska; Ella Miller of Centerville, Iowa; Emma Darnall of Eustis, Nebraska; Ernest Klein of Boulder, Colorado; and Bessie Darnall of Grand Island, Nebraska.
His wife and two grandchildren preceded him in death. He has nineteen grandchildren and three great-granchildren.
He has been a resident of Frontier County since 1904. He was in good health until two weeks ago, when he was stricken with a blood clot and departed this life, September 9th, 1946 at the age of 82 years, six months, and one day. He died at his home. After the death of his wife, his daughter Anna lived with him.
Surviving are the six children, the grandchildren, three brothers, and one step sister; a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He was a kind father and a good husband.
