OBITUARY

The death of William Ewing Johnson who passed away at the hospital at Farnam, Nebr., Tuesday, Feb. 5, 1935 was a shock to the community. He was the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur L. Johnson who live near Farnam. William died just thirty years to the day after his Grandmother Johnson.

Billie as he was known at home and school was born Febr. 13, 1921 at Hyde, Colo., moving to his present home nine years ago. He has made many friends by his pleasing personality, and his passing will be mourned by all who knew him.

He had an ardent desire for machinery, and for several years has shown his ingenuity by making minature pieces which were on exhibit at the county fair.

He was dependable at home and school and attended Sunday School, not feeling well since Christmas but with a determined spirit to continue his education, Billie went to Stockville last Friday and took the eighth grade examinations. He passed in the four subjects he took with commendable grades. The seriousness of his illness wasn’t determined until a few days before his death.

He is survived by his parents, two sisters and two brothers: Margaret, Bobbie, Jimmie and Mildred Marie, two grandfathers, besides many relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held from the Methodist church last Thursday afternoon with Rev. L. H. Messersmith in charge. Interment in the Farnam cemetery.

The music was rendered by Josie Messersmith, Faye Hudson, Orvis Messersmith and Vern Todd with Mrs. Orvis Messersmith at the piano.

The pall bearers were Harold Knight, Leonard and Eugene Messersmith, Raymond and Laverne Wear and Emory Weiss.

Sunset and evening star.
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea.

But such a tide as moving seems asleep.
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
  Turns again home.

Twilight and evening bell,
  And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
  When I embark.

For though from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far.
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crossed the bar.
