A baby boy born to Mr. and Mrs. Gene Hoppe at a Cozad Hospital on June 16 died ten hours later, on the same day. He had been named John Edward. The mother is the former Betty Thompson.

Short funeral services were held and the body was laid to rest in the Moorefield cemetery Friday, June 18. [John's grave was later moved to the Farnam cemetery.]
