Mrs. James Hazen Passed Away

Mrs. Lydia Ann Hazen, 76 years of age, wife of James Hazen, passed away at her home in Farnam Tuesday afternoon January 1, 1957. She has been a resident of the Farnam community for 72 years coming with her parents when she was 4 fours old. She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Eldin Roberts of Boulder, Colo. and Mrs. Wendell Mousel of Cambridge, Nebr., two sons Andrew and Murlin both of Farnam. Nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. One daughter, Mrs. Ernest Klein preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 Thursday afternoon in the Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. George Cravens officiating.

Olesen Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Lydia Ann Hazen

Lydia Ann Hazen was born January 3, 1880 at Seymour, Illinois. She was married to James Hazen December 5, 1900, and died at Farnam, Nebraska, January 1, 1957 at 76 years of age. She came to Nebraska in 1884 with her parents, who homesteaded in Frontier county. After her marriage, she lived on a farm right across the road from her parents until 1926 when they moved into Farnam.

Mrs. Hazen was baptized in the Methodist Church at Seymour when a child, and trusted in Christ as her Saviour at the time of her illness and death. She always attended the services of the church when she was able and taught her children the Christian way. She was a good neighbor and ministered to the sick. She was a lovely mother and a devoted wife.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Helen, and one sister, Naomi. She is survived by her husband, James Hazen, of Farnam; four children: Mr. Andrew Hazen and Murlin Hazen of Farnam, Mrs. Eldin Roberts, of Boulder, Colo. and Mrs. R. Wendell Mousel, of Cambridge, Nebraska; nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one niece of Farnam and one nephew of Norman, Okla.

Services were held at the Church of the Nazarene, Farnam, January 3, 1957 at 2:30. The Rev. George Cravens, pastor, was the clergyman. Music was by a quartet, Mrs. Hugo Blomquist, Mr. Dan McNickle, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Pollard. Mrs. Raymond Smith was the pianist. Pallbearers were Eldon Thompson, Harold Adkisson, Lee Hudson, Cletus Donner, Alvin Smallfoot and Russell Wilcox. Honorary pallbearers were Bert Williams, Ed Williams, Albert LaBounty, Phillip Johnson, Walter Donner, and Joe Hicks.

Interment was in the Farnam Cemetery.
