Lucile ‘Bick’ Gaibler

Lucile Gaibler was born December 15, 1898 at Seward, Nebraska, the daughter of William Bick and his wife, Amanda Pendell. Her family came to Farnam in 1907 and she spent most of her life in that area.

She was married on November 14, 1918 to Chris Gaibler at Eustis, Nebraska, to this union four children were born. They resided north of Farnam until her husband’s death on June 22, 1955. Since that time she made her home with her daughter and family near Farnam.

She passed away September 4, 1978 at the Gothenburg Memorial Hospital, having reached the age of 79 years, 8 months and 20 days.

Preceding her in death in addition to her husband and parents were one granddaughter; two sisters, Elizabeth Balser and Myrtle Gaibler; four brothers, Bert, Roy, Arthur, and Virgil Bick.

Lucile is survived by two daughters, Geneva, Mrs. Alfred Friesenborg of Gothenburg and Ruth, Mrs. Henry Sturgeon of Farnam; two sons, Lester (Laura) and Orville (Jeweldine) Gaibler of Farnam; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; one sister, Edna Rieker of Eustis, Nebraska and one brother, Chester Bick of Enid, Oklahoma; nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services were held on September 7, 1978 at the United Methodist Church in Farnam, Nebraska with Rev. Karl Lent officiating. Music was provided by Mrs. Harold Bick and Lawrence Oberg with Mrs. Kent Davis as accompanist. Pallbearers were Harold Bick, Kenneth Rieker, Keith Anthony, Walter Bick, Gilbert Rieker and Earl Stephens. Burial was in the Farnam Cemetery with McVay Memorial Chapel in charge of arrangements.
