Argil F. Donner, 81, of Farnam died Aug. 20, 2001, at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg.

He was born July 24, 1920, south of Farnam to Walter and Emma Slater Donner. He attended country school for eight years. He served in the U.S. Army from September 1942 to February 1946.

On Feb. 23, 1946, he married Lily Houser at Cambridge.

Mr. Donner was a member of American Legion Post 288 of Farnam. He farmed and worked on construction at the hay mills, piled hay and did commercial trucking.

He is survived by his wife; two sons Jim and Dan, both of Farnam; a sister, Waunetta Crisman of Gothenburg; a sister-in-law, Clara Clement Donner of Grand Island; five grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other friends and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers.

Memorials may be made to the Farnam Rescue Unit or the Farnam Senior Center.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Farnam cemetery with the Rev. Steve Bales officiating.

Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Blase Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg.
