William Ross Crisman
William Ross Crisman died February 24, 1979, at the of 101 at the Southview Manor, Cozad, Nebraska, where he was a resident for the past few years.
Youngest of ten children he was born August 26, 1877 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania to Samuel and Elizabeth (Caycomb) Crisman.
At the age of two, he moved with his family to Mansfield, Missouri, where a few months after their arrival a cyclone came and took everything. Though Ross was unhurt from the cyclone, his father, mother, and a brother and a sister were killed.
Ross and some of the children were taken back to Pennsylvania where he was cared for by a sister and family until he was eighteen years of age when he moved to Hastings, Nebraska.
He was married to Dora Piel on September 5, 1906, and to this union three children were born, Frank Samuel, Dorthy Marie and Gerald Ross. The family moved to the Farnam-Eustis area in 1933.
Preceding him in death were his wife, deceased September 8, 1950 and one son, Frank. Survivors include one daughter, Dorothy Marie Jurjens of Farnam; one son, Gerald Ross of Gothenburg, five grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Services were held at the Church of the Nazarene in Farnam on February 27th at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Harold Ellis officiating. Music was provided by Mrs. Pauline Sukraw and Mrs. Ruby Oberg. Casket bearers were Harold Lehman, Clarence Oberg, Joy Russell, Jess Zysset, Lewis Lehman, and Forrest Johnson.
Burial was in the Farnam Cemetery.
