Former Farnam Resident Buried Here Saturday
Robert James Brown was born in Polk county, Tenn., on April 17, 18[47] and departed this life April 7, 1925. Being 77 years 11 months and 20 days of Age. Mr. Brown moved from Tenn. To Columbus Junction, Iowa in 1853. He was united in marriage to Matilda C. Hamlet at Plainfield, Ind. June 1st, 1871. Mrs. Brown having departed this life in 1923. To this union were born seven children, four of whom are living. They are: Grace M. Kendall of Moline, Ill., Bert J. Brown of North Platte, Nebr., Ray L. of Colorado and Earnest N. of Johnson City, Ill. Besides 9 grandchilren and 13 great grandchildren, and a host of other realtives and friends who survive to mourn his departure.
Mr. Brown remained at Columbus Junction until 1874 at which time he moved to Tingley, Iowa, where he expressed his faith in Christ by going into the Christian church. In 1907 he moved to Farnam, Nebr., where he joined the Baptist Church of which he was a member at the time of his death. He moved to North Platte in 1918 where he lived until death came.
Mr. Brown lived in and around Farnam for twelve years and was highly respected by all who knew him.
The body was brought to Farnam Saturday for burial. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church Saturday at 2 o’clock and interment was made in the cemetery. Rev. P. R. Stevens, pastor of the Christian church of North Platte, had charge of the service.
