Lillie B. Brown
FARNAM — Lillie B. Brown, 99, of Farnam died June 10, 2003, at the Cozad Hospital.
She was born Dec. 28, 1903, in a sodhouse near Moorefield to Joseph and Emma Helser Stephens.
On Feb. 28, 1921, she married Marion Brown at North Platte. The couple lived on farmsites in several Nebraska communities before moving to Farnam in 1942. She took great pride in her yard and house plants. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, painting, crocheting and tatting. At Halloween, she took great pleasure in dressing up and decorating for the young children.
Mrs. Brown was a member of the Farnam United Methodist Church and the Easter Rebekah Lodge.
Survivors include three daughters Lillian (Virgil) Dishman of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Rosemary Kostman and Martha Juanita (Boyd) Lynch, all of Cozad; five sons, Robert (Barbara) and Carl (Doris), all of Des Moines, Iowa, Kenneth (Evonne) of Gothenburg, Thomas (Claire) of Schenectady, N.Y. and Vernon (Jan) of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa; a half-sister, Geraldine Cain of Tucson, Ariz.; a son-in-law, Al Rinke of Paxton; 22 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and a dear friend, Jean Ralston of Stockton, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1972; a daughter, Dorothy Rinke; a son, Marion Jr.; a sister; two brothers; a son-in-law, Kenneth Kostman; a granddaughter, Rochelle Brown; a grandson, Clinton Dishman; and a grandson-in-law, Donald Curtis.
A memorial has been established.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Farnam with the Rev. D.R. “Buck” Linton-Hendrick officiating. Burial will be in the Farnam Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad, which is in charge.
