Della Brown Passes Away
Mrs. Della Fraker Brown was born in 1887 and died suddenly Sunday evening July 20 at North Platte, age 37 years. Farnam relatives and friends were shocked and surprised when they heard the news as it was not generally known she had heart trouble but her last sickness dates from July 4th when she had a serious sinking spell and for a week her life was despaired of, then she apparently was as well as ever and had spent a happy day in the home of friends, had eaten a hearty supper and was laughing and talking when she suddenly dropped dead in the yard. Della, as she was familiarly known here, spent a number of years of her girlhood and married life in Farnam. She was married to Bert Brown July 18, 1906 and to this union 4 children were born one dying in infancy. She was also a splendid mother to three step children, one of whom preceded her in death several years ago. The children are married except Faye 11 years old and Earnest 5 years and it is an especially sad blow for the husband and two little ones in the home and her sudden demise is deeply deplored by all her family. Besides the children and husband she leaves to mourn her loss four brothers, several grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. The community extends heart felt sympathy to all. She was converted in Farnam and united with the Baptist church. Since her removal to North Platte a few years ago she transferred her membership to the Baptist church of that place. Funeral services were conducted at her home church in Farnam by the Rev. Stevens of North Platte, at three o’clock July 23. The remains laid to rest by loved ones in the Farnam Cemetery.
The floral tributes were many and beautiful and expressive of love and sympathy of the givers.
A large concourse of relatives and friends came from North Platte to show their last respects for the deceased and her family. A large number of Farnam friends also made a special effort to attend the services.
The pall bearers were: Victor Oman, Otto Oman, Floyd Gardner, Willis Whitney, Frank Reeves and Chas. Pollard. Mesdames W. G. Parker, Chas. Pollard, T. W. Ainlay, Frank Reeves and Chas. Pollard furnished the music. The songs sang were “Somtime We’ll Understand,” “He Knows It All” and “Some Sweet Day.”
The services were in charge of Maloney Undertaking Establishment and were very nicely conducted.
The large crowd from out of town was entertained at the hospitable home of Mr. and Mrs. S. K. Brown.—Contributed.
