Lloyd Delbert Beery

Lloyd Delbert Beery, 98, of Greeley died Sunday, Feb. 5, at his home.

Mr. Beery was born May 11, 1907, in Frontier County, Neb., the third of 12 children born to Edd and Minnie (McMichael) Beery.

He grew up on the family farm and helped his parents until he was married.

On Oct. 12, 1935, he married Gladys Beck in Farnam, Neb.

Mr. Beery and his brother Glenn farmed in partnership and also operated a custom threshing operation for several years. In 1945, he took a job as a mechanic with the Hosick Implement Co. in Curtis, Neb. He was always interested in anything mechanical.

In 1956, the Beery family moved to Laramie, Wyo. Mr. Beery worked for the Gamble Store until it closed, then was employed by the city of Laramie until his retirement. After that, he worked with the senior citizens program for the Forest Service in Albany County, Wyo. He was a lifetime member of the International Order of Odd Fellows Lodge and a member of the United Methodist Church.

In 1993, he and his wife moved to Greeley, where they joined St. Paul's Congregational Church.

A quiet, honorable man, Mr. Beery enjoyed music, dancing and telling stories.

Survivors are his wife of 70 years, Gladys of Greeley; a daughter, Leslie Ann Koester of Greeley; two sons and their wives, Lloyd Gareth and Marlynn of Greeley and Rodger and Marilyn of Wheat Ridge; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two sisters, Inez Howard of Kansas City, Kan., and Esther Brunson of Laverne, Okla., and numerous other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers, Arvel, Glenn, Leonard, Donald, Dale, Loren, Dalton, Howard, and a sister, Hazel.

Cremation.

Memorial services will be at noon Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Farnam. Inurnment will be in the Farnam Cemetery.

Northern Colorado Crematory in Greeley is in charge of arrangements.
