Obituary
Mary W. Allen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Allen, was born in Omaha, February 28, 1887; coming with her parents to Farnam in early childhood, attending the school of the district and later coming to Farnam high school, graduating with the class of 1903.
In early childhood Mary gave her heart to the Lord, uniting with the Farnam Congregational church of which she has been a faithful and useful member ever since. Her exemplary christian character has been an inspiration and help to many, and the efficient work she has done in the church, Sabbath school and Christian Endeavor society will long be remembered. Her life motto being, Psalm 19:14 “Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer.”
She has been a most efficient and acceptable teacher in the Farnam schools for five years, and was engaged for the ensuing term.
Mary W. Allen fell asleep in Jesus, Tuesday, August 21, 1917, at 11 o’clock p. m., after an illness of less than a week.
The family have the sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement.
“Blessed are they that die in the Lord, for they shall rest from their labors and their works do follow them.”
The funeral services were conducted from the Allen home this (Thursday) afternoon at 2 o’clock, conducted by Rev. H. H. Pollard. Interment at the Farnam cemetery.
