Garold Keith Messersmith

Garold Keith Messersmith Junior, age 63 of Farnam passed away Friday, January 31, 2020 in Cambridge, NE.

Garold was born May 13, 1956 at Gothenburg, Nebraska to Garold “Keith” Sr. and Leora (Knoll) Messersmith. He first attended a small country school south of the home place and walked back to his grandparents after his school day. He then attended Orafino country school until 8th grade. His high school years were spent at Farnam High School where he excelled in football. He graduated from Farnam with the class of 1974. In 1981, Garold married Teresa Leach in Farnam. Their union was blessed with four children, Cody, HaLea, Hilary, and Carson. Garold spent his life farming and ranching south of Farnam on the family operation and took pride in his role there. He especially enjoyed working with cattle and a good horse.

Garold loved sports, especially football and baseball and enjoyed following all Husker teams. He loved a fast vehicle, traveling, country music, and summer rodeos. He never knew a stranger. He always enjoyed a good conversation.

Garold was preceded in death by his father, Keith.

Survivors include his mother Leora of Curtis, son Cody (Kristina) Messersmith of Farnam, HaLea Messersmith (Kirk Kloepping) of Cozad, Hilary (Kyle) Klammer of Lexington, and Carson Messersmith of Lincoln; siblings Mike (Beth) Messersmith of Gothenburg, Pat (Sandra) Messersmith of Maywood, and Pam (Jim) Glodowski of Farnam, special friend Diane Samstad, new granddaughter Hollynd Page Klammer, as well as many other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be directed to the Farnam Fire and Rescue.

Visitation will be held at Farnam United Methodist Church, 303 Caribou Street, Farnam, NE; Wednesday, February 5, 2020, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm with the family present.

Funeral services will be held at Farnam United Methodist Church, 303 Caribou Street, Farnam, NE, Thursday, February 6, 2020, at 2:00 pm with Pastor Neil Kloppenborg officiating.

Burial will follow in the Farnam Cemetery, Farnam, NE.
