LAST RITES MONDAY
FOR AMY HEUMPHREUS

Mrs. Art (Amy) Heumphreus passed away Saturday morning in the Gothenburg hospital after a lingering illness.

Mr. and Mrs. Heumphreus lived on a farm north east of Farnam for many years moving to Gothenburg last October.

Amy had been a correspondent for the Press for over 20 years, writing the North Star News. Her ever present smile and personality made her a friend to all.

Services were held Monday, July 13, 1964 at 2:00 p.m. in the McVay-Olesen Chapel in Gothenburg conducted by Pastor Rev. B. H. Hart. Music was by Mrs. Audrey Kotschwar and Mrs. Delores Nickerson accompanied by Mrs. Raymond Smith. Pallbearers were Clyde and Leon Kotschwar, Elgie Thompson, Noble Bellamy and Harold and Jack Schultz. Interment was in the Eustis Cemetery.

OBITUARY

Amy Pearl Mercer Heumphreus, daughter of Eli Lincoln and Nevada T. Mercer was born in Franklin, Nebraska on November 1, 1889.

She was baptized in the Latter Day Saint Church and grew to womanhood in the Farnam community. After completing her high school education in the Farnam Schools, she taught in the rural districts for seven years.

On December 24, 1913 she was united in marriage to Arthur O. Heumphreus in Lexington, Nebraska. To this union four children were born, one son and three daughters.

They spent most of their married life in the Farnam community where she was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and the Legion Auxiliary. They moved to Gothenburg in October of 1963.

Mrs. Heumphreus passed away on July 11, 1964 in the Gothenburg hospital after a lingering illness, at the age of 74 years, 8 months and 11 days.

Survivors include her husband Arthur, three daughters, Marjorie Kniestadt and Bernice Ostendorf of Gothenburg and Jean Saum of Kearney, and six grandchildren. Her son, James, preceded her in death. She is also survived by two sisters, Ethel Haney of Cozad and Leia Osborne of Sacremento, Calif., three brothers, Dow Mercer of Thedford, Theodore of Cozad, and Dale of Scottsdale, Arizona and a host of neices and nephews.

She was a kind and loving wife and mother and a friend to everyone, she will be missed by all who knew her.
