Clay F. Warner

Clay F. Warner, eldest son of Herbert and Emma Warner, was born February 17, 1901 at Lebanon, Kansas. He passed away at his home on Friday, January 12, 1962, at the age of 60 years, 10 months, and 26 days. His family moved from Lebanon to Frontier County, Nebraska by way of covered wagon when Clay was four years old. He grew to manhood on a farm seven miles south of Moorefield.

He was married to Dessa Maye Hulen on October 19, 1925 in North Platte, Nebraska. To this union was born two children; Evelyn Berry of Gering, Nebr., and Leland Warner, of Greeley, Colo.

He leaves to mourn his passing; his wife, Dessa, their two children, Evelyn and Leland; six grandchildren, two sisters, Eunice Wood of Powell, Wyo., and Caroline Goegt of Bartley, Nebr., one half brother, James F. Brown of Caldwell, Idaho; one uncle, George Warner, of Bend, Oregon; and many other loving relatives and friends.

Preceeding Clay in death, were his parents, one granddaughter, Judy Kay Crosley, a brother, Jess Warner, and one half brother, Roy Brown.

Clay was baptized on May 25, 1952 by Elder V. E. Kirkpatrick, and has remained a faithful member of the Church of God. He was serving as a Deacon in the Moorefield Church. He served on the town board since 1953. Clay was caretaker of the cemetery and the church yard. For the last few years, he worked on the Don Swanson farm and at the Moorefield Hardware.

He was a devoted husband and father whose aim in life was to raise his family in Christian love. He will always be remembered by his friends and neighbors for his love and thoughfulness in helping others. His greatest joy in life was being with his grandchildren. He will long be remembered and missed by many.
