Obituary of Austin S. Teel

Austin S. Teel passed away at his home in Farnam early Saturday morning after an illness of three months, during which time he suffered a great deal. Death was caused by heart trouble, dropsey of the heart and other complications which had set in.

Mr. Teel was born in Washington County, Pa., on July 29, 1852 and died at Farnam, Nebr. Sept. 11, 1927. Age, 75 years, 1 month and 13 days.

When but a lad 9 years old, his parents moved to Zaneville, Ohio, where he grew to man hood. On October 18, 1876 he was united in marriage to Edith Echelberry, also of Zanesville. In 1892 they moved to Nebr. settling on a homstead north of Moorefield and just south of the I. R. Dempcy ranch. Oct. 12, 1894 his good wife died leaving him with a family of six children. In spite of hardships he remained on his homestead for eight years after which time he moved to Moorefield for a short time later moving to a farm near Farnam and in later years he moved to town, where he lived until the time of his death.

In 1903 Mr. Teel was married to Elizabeth McConnougha, also of Zanesville, Ohio.

He was converted and confessed his faith in his Master in Jan. 1880 and became a member of the Baptist church of Zanesville, Ohio. When he moved to Farnam he placed his membership in the Methodist church, of which he was a faithful member until about two years ago when he joined the Farnam Church of the Nazarene of which he was a member at the time of his death.

Mr. Teel leaves to mourn his death, his wife and six children. They are: Mrs. Mary Haggberg, of Gothenburg; Mrs. Nora Heath and Mrs. Lena Heath of Broadwater; Mrs. Flora Bennett, of Los Angeles, Calif; Mrs. Maud Smith, of Ingham and Charley Teel, of Odesa, he also leaves a brother, Archie Teel of this place and a sister, Mrs. J. P. Caster, of Salinesville, Ohio, and a host of other relatives and friends. All of the above were present at the funeral except Mrs. Bennett and Mrs. Caster, both of whom had been here recently to see him, but had returned home.

Funeral services were conducted from the Baptist church at 2: o’clock Monday afternoon, by Rev. J. D. Williams, pastor of the Nazarene church, and interment was made in the Moorefield cemetery beside his wife.
