Eldred Aubrey Wilhelmson

Eldred Aubrey Wilhelmson, 85, of North Platte died Jan. 23, 2001, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.

He was born Nov. 4, 1915, at White to Jacob Robert and Mary Elizabeth Smith Wilhelmson. He grew up in Hayes County and in 1928, his family moved north of Dickens. In 1937, the family moved to the North Platte area to farm.

In 1940, he married Odalite Wynette Halsey at North Platte. They made their home south of North Platte on the farm. She preceded him in death in March 1962.

On Nov. 4, 1977, he married Alberta Louise Preitauer Speck at Farnam. They lived on the farm until 1993 when they moved into North Platte.

Mr. Wilhelmson was a member of the First Christian Church, BPO Elks 985, Eagles Aerie 2839 and Walla Walla Lodge 56 of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.

Survivors include his wife, Alberta; two daughters, Willa Trompeter and Loretta (Don) Stenger, all of North Platte; a son, Stan (Sally) of North Platte; a stepdaughter, Shari (Dan) Briggs of Imperial; three stepsons, Robert (Millie) Speck of Omaha, John Speck of Imperial and Richard (Shirley) Speck of Farnam; a sister, Harriett (George) Rohrbacker of Eugene, Ore.; a brother, George (Ruth) Wilhelmson of North Platte; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two aunts, Frances Wilhelmson of North Platte and Elsie Larson of Curtis; and other relatives.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Edward; his parents; a brother, Fred Wilhelmson; two stepgrandsons, Rick and Chad Speck; and a stepdaughter-in-law Eunice Speck.

Memorials have been established to the Alzheimer's Association or to the donor's choice.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Lux officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Odean Colonial Chapel and prior to services Friday at the church.
