Mildred (Rine) (Heidebrink) Jensen

Mildred Jensen, 86, of Cozad, passed away Aug. 13, 2009, at the Gothenburg Memorial Hospital.

She was born Sept. 6, 1922, in Gothenburg to Murray and Lulla (Dodd) Rine.

She lived on a farm in Ingham, northwest of Farnam and later moved to Winnett, Mont.

The family moved back to Nebraska in 1936. She graduated from Farnam High School in 1940, and went on to study to become a teacher. She taught rural school at Ingham.

In 1941, she married Walter Heidebrink, at her parents' home east of Farnam. Walter preceded her in death in 1944. In 1945, she moved to Gothenburg where she taught school in the area. On April 6, 1947, she married Carl Jensen at the Antelope Baptist Church south of Gothenburg. The couple moved to Cozad in 1949. In 1971, Carl and Mildred started Jensen's Gift Shop in Cozad, which they owned and operated until their retirement in 1986. Carl preceded her in death in 1987.

Mildred held long time memberships, which included the First United Methodist Church, VFW, VFW Past Presidents and the Ladies Auxiliary.

She enjoyed spending quality time with her family, square dancing, traveling, knitting, playing cards, and cooking big meals for her family and friends.

In addition to her husbands, Walter and Carl, Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; a brother; Gerald; a sister, Grace Slack.

Survivors include her three sons, Roger Heidebrink of Gothenburg; Doug Jensen of Cozad; Brad (Sandy) Jensen of Elizabeth, Colo.; daughter, Rochelle (Ralph) Jung of Centennial, Colo.; Carl's son Dean (Margaret) Jensen of North Platte; sister, Jean (Warren) Fales of Melbourne, Ark.; sister in law, Alice (Frank) Boyd of Gothenburg; nine grandchildren; a number of great grandchildren; numerous other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 11 a.m., Monday, Aug. 17, at the First United Methodist Church in Cozad with Pastor Lyle Schoen officiating. Burial will be in the Cozad Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 16, at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad.
