Minnie Beery

Mrs. Edward Beery passed away at her home at 1418 Avenue A, on Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 2, 1955, following a long illness. Mr. and Mrs. Beery have lived in Gothenburg the past seven years, moving here from the farm home south of Farnam.

She had lived in that community since 1885, moving there with her parents from their home in Iowa. She was born on March 11, 1882, at New Market, Iowa, to Richard and Rebecca McMichael.

On Febr.19, 1901, she was united in marriage to Edward Beery. To this union, twelve children were born. Those who remain to mourn her death are: her husband; eight sons: Orville and Lloyd of Curtis, Glen and Dale of Fresno, Calif., Leonard and Loren of Van Nuys, Calif., Donald of Gothenburg, and Howard of Kimball; two daughters: Mrs. Paul Howard of Kansas City, Kansas, and Mrs. Dale Brunson of San Antonio, Texas; 18 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a brother, R. C. McMichael of Farnam, Nebr.

Those who preceded her in death were: a daughter, Hazel, who died in infancy, and a son, Dalton, who died at the age of five years, and a grandson, Larry Beery, who died in March, 1955.

In her early life she was baptized in the Christian faith and was received into the membership of the Orafino Evangelical United Brethern Church. She lived close to the Lord throughout her life and was ever faithful.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, Nov 6th, at 1:30 at the Olesen Funeral Home with Rev. W. A. Cunningham officiating, and at 2:30 at the Nazarene Church in Farnam, Rev. Armin Vogt, pastor of the Eustis and Orafino Evangelical United Brethern churches, and Rev, W. A. Cunningham, pastor of the Gothenburg Nazarene church, officiating. Mrs Elsie Davis and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Sukraw sang "Nearer Still Nearer", "Hiding in Thee" and "Rock of Ages", Mrs. Jay Rice accompanied them at the piano. Mrs. Beery's eight sons served as pallbearers. Burial was in the Cambridge Cemetery.
