Obituary Collection
Glenrose (Patterson) Barcelos

Loving Aunt, Great-Aunt and Great-Great Aunt Glenrose died peacefully on April 1, 2005 at the age of 84. Glenrose was born on Dec 30, 1920 in Farnam, Nebraska and graduated from Farnam High School in 1939. She and her family moved to California, eventually settling in the Inland Valley. She retired in 1985 with 30 years of service from General Dynamics, Pomona Division. She married the love of her life, Belmiro ("Bill") in 1970. In 2000 she lost her dear husband to a long struggle with cancer. Independent to the end, she had her own apartment, and insisted on taking care of herself. With hands crippled by arthritis, she spent her days knitting caps for Santa Claus Inc. She was so proud to donate more than 350 caps. Glenrose never had children of her own. She was the one-of-a-kind Aunt that all people should be blessed with. She made sure that her nieces always had food, clothing and shoes. She bought them books to stimulate their minds, and instruments to inspire their hearts. She was even brave enough to teach them to drive. Glenrose is preceded in death by her husband Bill, sister Helen Palermo and brother Delmar Patterson. She leaves behind her nieces, Maria (Robert) Magnusson of Rancho Cucamonga, Frances (Ronnie, "Bear") Purkey of Alta Loma, Rosie (Reggie) Valencia of Upland, and Annie (Bob) Prest of Medford, OR., 6 Great-nieces and nephews, and 5 Great-great nieces.

Grave side service will be Monday, April, 11 at 12:30 p.m., at Holy Cross Cemetery in Pomona.

Todd Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
