Carroll A. Mayfield

Carroll A. Mayfield was born January 12, 1858 at Osage, Ia., and departed this life at his home in New Raymer, Colo., March 9, 1929, aged 71 years, 1 month and 25 days.

He was one of a family of 15 children, who came with their parents, as pioneers to Frontier County. He was married on February 7, 1888 to Miss Eva Smith. To this union were born four children, three sons and one daughter. Two sons, Earnest and William died in infancy and were buried in the Farnam cemetery. It was the last request of the father, that he be laid to rest beside his boys.

Mr. Mayfield united with the Christian church when a lad seventeen years of age and has always endeavored to live a life in accordance with his profession. He was at all times a very kind and loving father, and will be greatly missed by those who loved him. He leaves to mourn his death, two children, Leonard, of Longpine and Laura Fightmaster, of Riverton, Wyo., four brothers and two sisters, Elmer, of North Platte, Granville, of New Raymer, Colo., and Jay of Grass Creek, Wyo., Mrs. Ethel English of Moorcraft, Wyo., and Mrs. Mildred Starkey, of New Raymer, Colorado.

The remains were shipped here Tuesday for burial. Services were conducted in the Baptist church, with Rev. C. R. Tanner, pastor of the Methodist church, in charge. Interment was made in the Farnam cemetery.
