Orville Hilton

Orville Raymond Hilton, 90, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died November 4, 2018 at Hilltop Estates.

Orville was born August 24, 1928 to Elmer and Eva (Keiper) Hilton at Gothenburg, Nebraska. Orville started his young life with his family in Farnam, Nebraska. The family later moved to Lexington, Nebraska for a short time before finally settling on the farmstead north of Cozad, Nebraska. Orville finished his schooling in 8th grade and joined his father in farming. In his later teen years he was employed by Ed Gerken at Eddyville, Nebraska. He enlisted in the US Army on September 9, 1946 at the age of 18. Following his discharge in 1948, Orville went to work for Kaufmans south of Cozad, where he learned about setting tubes for irrigation. Orville won several contests for siphon tube setting and was a State champ at one time. When his father started irrigation farming, Orville returned to farming with his father north of Cozad.

Farming was his life and he enjoyed it, along with golfing and baseball. He also enjoyed his time with his nieces and nephews. He liked to hunt and went Elk Hunting in Oregon with family members.

Orville was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Leonard (Virginia Buesing) Hilton and sisters, Doris (George) Hergenrader, and June (Gerald) Walker.

He is survived by his brother Marvin (Carol Cudaback) Hilton of York, Nebraska and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Thursday, November 8, 2018, 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm.

Services will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, November 9, 2018 at 10:30 am.

Interment will follow in the Farnam Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the family for later designation.
