Alberta Speck Wilhelmson

IMPERIAL -Alberta Speck Wilhelmson, 86, of Imperial, formerly of North Platte, died June 14, 2006, at the Chase County Community in Imperial. She was born Sept. 13, 1919, to Albert and Mabel Spencer Preitauer at North Platte.

As a young girl she grew up and attended school in North Platte, graduating in 1937.

She married Eugene "Ben" Speck at Stockville. The couple settled in Ogallala for a short time before moving to the family farm near Farnam, where they made their home until Ben's death in 1975.

In 1977, she married Aldred Wilhelmson and moved to North Platte. Aldred passed away in 2001. In 2005, she moved to Imperial because of health reasons.

Mrs. Wilhelmson was very active in the communities in which she resided including 75-year member of the United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Rebecca's Does, Eagles, A daughter of the American Revolution, VFW Auxiliary, all of the North Platte area.

She loved to crochet blankets for all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include a daughter, Shari (Dan) Briggs of Imperial; three sons, John (Janet) of Phillips, Richard (Shirley) of Farnam, Robert (Millie) of Omaha; a stepdaughter, Willa (Larry) Twidwell of Hershey; a stepson, Stanley (Sally) Wilhelmson of North Platte; 11 grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a brother, Don Preitauer of Grand Island; a sister, Francine (Ronnie) Jenkins of North Platte; and a stepbrother, Harold (Mildred) McGee of Brule.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Ben and Aldred; a daughter, Dollie; two grandsons, Rick and Chad; a daughter-in-law, Eunice; three brothers, Gale, Stan, and John; and a stepbrother, Vernon.

A memorial has been established.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Farnam with the Rev. Tess Hufford officiating. Burial will be in the Farnam Cemetery.

Visitation will be prior to services Monday at the church.

Liewer Funeral Home in Imperial is in charge.
