Beulah E. Russell

Beulah E. Russell, 86, of Elwood, formerly of Farnam, died June 28, 2000, at the Elwood Care Center.

She was born Dec. 19, 1913, south of Farnam in Frontier county to Albert and Iva Zoe McCarl McMichael. She attended Lonestar School south of Farnam and graduated from Farnam High School in 1932.

On Sept. 2, 1931, she married Joy William Russell at Norton, Kan. Her husband preceded her in death Sept. 1, 1989. She lived most of her life in the Farnam area and moved to Lexington in 1993. She lived the past two months she had lived in the Elwood Care Center. She enjoyed sewing for her grandchildren and was best known as a cake decorator. She attended the Farnam Church of the Nazarene and was a member of the Sunshine Club and numerous card clubs.

Mrs. Russell is survived by her daughter, Bonnie (William) Betz of Lexington; a sister, Edith (Alvin) Morton of Camby, Ore.; six grandchildren, Willie Betz of Lincoln, Connie (Jay) Huber of Elwood, Judy (Alan) Babcock of Chapel Hill, N.C., Nancy (Bob) Felix of Gillett, Wis., Mark Russell of Suisan, Calif., and Sherrie (Billy) Tobin of Vacaville, Calif.; and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Rex in 1985; her parents; two sisters, Edna Morton and Emily Frank; and a grandson, Paul in 1982.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Farnam Cemetery with the Rev. Wes Hitchcock officiating.
