Obituary Collection
W. E. Hopkins

William Edward Hopkins, son of Caroline Lucette and Henry Hopkins, was born March 5, 1874, at Huntington, West Virginia, and passed away at a North Platte Hospital Septemer 18, 1947. His health had not been good for some time but his last illness was of only a few days duration.

When a small boy he came with his parents to the community south of Elwood where they lived several years.

In March 1901 he was united in marriage to Maude G. Horn, and in 1912 the family moved to the community south of Farnam where they still reside. To Mr. and Mrs. Hopkins eleven children were born, two of these, Myrtle Belle and an infant son, preceded their father in death.

Mr. Hopkins leaves to mourn his passing his wife, eight sons, Richard and Lloyd of Stockville, Oren of Wauneta, Harold of Haines, Oregon; Clifford, Leland, Earl and Bernard of Farnam; one daughter, Mrs. Irene Hercy of Des Moines, Iowa; two brothers, Alvin of Bertrand and John of California; three daughters-in-law and ten grandchildren, beside other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Sunday afternoon with Rev. Fern McCaig officiating and burial was in Farnam Cemetery under the supervision of the Hugo funeral home.
