Charity Dawson

Mrs. T. M. Dawson died at the home of her son, John Dawson, Tuesday morning at 5:10 o’clock; Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Craig at the Congl. Church, Thursday at 2:00 p.m. The remains were interred in the Farnam cemetery. Mrs. Dawson was one of the first settlers in this locality and her funeral was one of the most largely attended, ever in this locality.

She was born in Westmorland Co. Pa. Oct 21, 1836. Her maiden name was Charity Jane Vannamsdall [sic.] married to Thomas M. Dawson in Pittsburg, Pa, June 4 1857. She leaves six children to mourn her loss, five boys and one girl. To whom the sympathy of the entire community is extended.

She lived a consistent christian life and,
Let us rest with holy men of old
Not all the story here begun, is told
So the ?? spirit, waiting to be freed
On life's last leaf, with tranquil eye shall read,
By the pale glimmer of the torch revered,
Not finis, but the end of volume first.
Life's race well run,
Life's work well done,
Life's crown well won.
Now comes rest.
